Odyssey of Love

Would you:

  • Ditch your well-paying job?
  • Shelf your hard-earned diploma?
  • Leave your romantic partner of seven years?
  • Dive into an international search?

Linda did, and wrote about it in ODYSSEY OF LOVE: A Memoir of Seeking and Finding. Here’s a short synopsis:

When Linda doesn’t receive the marriage proposal she’d long been expecting from her boyfriend on her 41st birthday, she reluctantly visits a spiritual advisor, Angelica, who predicts that Linda will soon be leaving him for a romantic and music-filled Odyssey in Europe. There, a “Russian icon” will lead Linda to her future husband, a “tall man with glasses.”

Skeptical, but eager to discover her Eastern European roots and reconnect with music, Linda moves to Hungary, land of her musical idol, Franz Liszt. She reinvents herself as an English teacher and volunteers for the Liszt Academy of Music, where she is soon singing.

With Angelica’s vision in mind, Linda vows to “settle down, not settle for,” yet is tempted by romantic close calls: Gabi, a young Hungarian Brad Pitt look-alike; a slick Adonis in Greece; and a mysterious Brit living in Amsterdam. When Linda travels to Finland and meets a “tall man with glasses” who reveals the Russian icon on their first date, she understands that her Odyssey is complete.
